WHAT IS YOUR MOTTO?
Only the paranoid survive. My Cherry Bombe team jokes about putting that on a needlepoint pillow.
WHAT WAS THE MOST IMPORTANT THING YOU LEARNED IN HIGH SCHOOL?
That I should have gone to boarding school. I was a headstrong teenager and probably should have been sent far away! Maybe to another country.
WHAT IS YOUR GREATEST PET PEEVE?
People playing drums on the subway platform.
WHAT DO YOU WEAR THAT MAKES YOU FEEL STRONG?
A great dress and a pair of boots always does it for me.
WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE SOMEONE WITH A BROKEN HEART?
It’s okay to wallow for a while, but showering, slapping on some makeup, and getting out of the house will always make you feel better.
WHAT IS ON YOUR NIGHTSTAND?
Nothing too exciting. Water and some books! Currently reading Alice Water’s new memoir, Coming to My Senses.
WHAT GIVES YOU GOOSE BUMPS?
Almost everything! I get goosebumps all the time.
WHAT IS YOUR BAD DAY BACKUP PLAN?
Just sucking it up. When you have your own business, you can’t let a bad day set you back.
HOW DO YOU DEFINE SUCCESS?
To be honest, I never really thought about that. I really don’t think in terms of success or failure. As long as you’re fulfilled and can pay the bills!
BEST ADVICE YOU HAVE EVER RECEIVED?
When I worked for Glenda Bailey, she would always say, “Don’t bring me problems, bring me solutions.” It’s a good mindset for when things go awry. Focus on the solution.
WHAT MAKES YOU FORGET TO EAT?
Ha! Nothing.
WHAT DID YOUR 8 YEAR-OLD SELF LOVE DOING?
Reading. I was such a little bookworm.
WHAT 3 THINGS WOULD YOU GRAB IN A FIRE?
My cat, my passport, and the globe I won in the third grade science fair.
FAVORITE WORD?
Bullocks always makes me laugh. Especially when Hugh Grant says it.
FAVORITE WORK OF ART?
Anything by the painter Elliott Puckette. There’s a real lyricism to her work that I love.
FAVORITE BOOK?
Impossible question. I love books and books are the only thing I collect. I could never single out one.
WHAT WOULD SURPRISE YOUR PARENTS ABOUT YOU?
I think they’re continually surprised I’ve made it this far in life!
WHAT FICTIONAL CHARACTER DO YOU HAVE A CRUSH ON?
All of Wes Anderson’s characters.
IF YOU WERE A SINGER, WHAT WOULD BE THE NAME OF YOUR FIRST ALBUM?
Singing is the one skill I don’t have that I wish I did. So if I could sing well enough to record an album, the working title would be Pure Happiness. But I’d find a cooler name before I released it to the world.
BEST GIFT YOU’VE EVER RECEIVED?
Life! These are f’ing weird times, but I’m happy to wake up every day and see what’s going on.
