Dr. Macrene Alexiades Lured Her Skin-Care Devotees (Cate Holstein, Deeda Blair) to a Dinner on the Upper East Side
Ask any Park Avenue–esque woman in New York the secret to her ageless skin, and the answer will most likely be Macrene Alexiades, M.D. The catch? The waitlist at her prestigious practice is nearly six months long. Thanks to the relaunch of her all-natural innovative potion, Macrene Actives, access to the pioneering doctor got a whole lot easier.
A room full of Dr. Alexiades’s closest friends and patients turned up Thursday evening to Majorelle to celebrate beauty, brains, and her brand’s relaunch, now updated to feature 50 plant-based active ingredients (up from 37), all made on her farm in upstate New York. In attendance was the great Catherine “Deeda” Blair, who first inspired the event. Lise Evans talked politics with makeup artist Gucci Westman while Samantha Boardman, M.D., chatted with visionary director Chai Vasarhelyi about her upcoming projects, all brought together by the inimitable Peggy Siegel in Dr. Alexiades’s honor. Vasarhelyi looked lovely in a crisp crimson shirtdress by It designer Cate Holstein of Khaite, who was also in attendance, as did Alina Cho in a timeless black number with the brand’s signature puff sleeve.
Guests of all ages were quick to toast Dr. Alexiades for her accentuation of natural beauty and for being the doctor to talk patients out of injections and lasers. “I call her my natural anti-depressant,” said Holstein on Dr. Alexiades’s trailblazing and graceful approach to skincare. She has a vision for a world in which procedures are obsolete. “What I want to do is good for the earth [and] it’s good for you and your health. I feel like everyone needs to maximize what their power is and what their ability to contribute to this earth is,” Dr. Alexiades told Vogue. With completely biodegradable packaging and a fully non-toxic, natural formula, Dr. Alexiades achieves just that. “I was a leader in this, and now, I’m really raising the bar. I really want to see more people follow me and emulate what I’m trying to achieve.”
The doctor, who boasts three Harvard degrees, returned to the table and joined in on discourse about the empowering and joyful nature of embracing beauty without shame. A compelling conversation was had by all, and the best part of the night? The Macrene Actives High-Performance Face Cream guests were gifted over warm chocolate tortes at the end of the evening.
