Getting completely lost in the scrubbing moment — washing mindfully, and focusing only on the smell of the detergent, water temperature, feeling of the dishes — can lower nervousness by 27% and boost inspiration by 25%. Not focusing on the task won’t have the same effect.
When done mindfully, seemingly mundane activities, like brushing your teeth, walking the dog and taking a shower, can be used to promote a mindful state and increase wellbeing.
